About Veolia Environnement
150 Years In Environment Protection Services
Veolia Environnement is a large family of companies and, like any other family, we are proud of our roots, which go back over 150 years.
This is how our Chairman and CEO, Henri Proglio, described the company in a recent message:
“Founded at the dawn of the industrial era and the start of urban development , Veolia Environnement has constantly adapted to the changes in our societies over the past 153 years.”
Veolia Environnement is the world’s largest company in the field of environmental management services: the company employs over 300,000 people on five continents, with presence in more than 100 countries.
The activity of the French group, with annual turnover of EUR 30bn, comprises water services (Veolia Eau), waste management (Veolia Propreté), energy management (Veolia Énergie) and public transport (Veolia Transport). Its clientele includes local governments, budgetary institutions as well as companies in the industrial or the service sectors.
Veolia Environnement offers tailored, comprehensive solutions to its partners, thus helping to support sustainable development and efficient environment management.
Presence in Hungary
Veolia Environnement initiated its activities in Hungary over 15 years ago, in the early 1990’s.
Veolia Transport runs a representative office, whereas the other divisions are present in Hungary through subsidiaries: the total revenue of businesses under the control of the Veolia Water and Veolia Environment Management Services as well as the Veolia Energy-owned Dalkia Energia exceeded HUF 66 billion (EUR 266 million) in 2005, with over 2,800 employees.
The four divisions, although independent, work in close cooperation, both in trade and in communications. The wide-ranging, yet customized service package developed by Veolia Environnement’s companies represents optimized, reliable operation, cost saving and technical development for their typically common clientele: local governments, industrial and service facilities.
